As a Pittsburgh photographer, I love capturing all of the details on a wedding day. One of my favorite details on a wedding day is the cake! My mom, Bonnie from S’more Cake makes gorgeous wedding cakes. I was thrilled when she asked me to take a few pictures of a couple of cakes that will be featured on her website while I was in town. I am absolutely impressed by her attention to detail. I love the fondant hydrangeas, roses, and leaves at the top of the ruffle cake. I am amazed she made all of those by hand!

I am always working on my website, marketing, blogging and using social media. A month ago my mother decided to follow her dreams and launch her bakery, S’more Cake. I immediately suggested that she should come here so that I could help her set up her website, photograph her cakes, get her set up with social media (and of course eat some cake). The past four weeks have been amazing! I love that she was a part of our everyday life for an entire month. We got to talk, laugh, and have fun together all day everyday. I will cherish the time that I got to spend with her for the rest of my life. My mother is someone that I have always looked up to. She is always positive and has a smile on her face. Although we worked most of the time she was here, we took a couple of days off to just have fun.

I am so proud of everything we have accomplished while she was here. You have to check out her website, S’more Cake, it is beautiful! Here are couple of cakes that she made while she was here. I am so proud of her! She is so talented and her cakes are delicious!

“I really enjoyed designing wedding cakes during my time with Nicolette of Nicolette Dixon Photography. My daughter Nicolette has a photography business and does fantastic work with her portrait and wedding photography. She did my wedding pictures and I treasure them very much. I am very proud of her talent and appreciated all of her help. She encouraged me as we worked side by side during the four weeks I was there, designing my web site and Facebook business page. She has a “good eye” and I trust her judgement completely. We had a lot of fun exchanging ideas and I had the best time with her.

It was with her encouragement several weeks ago and her help that I was able to take a leap of faith in working towards a dream of mine to design wedding cakes in a business venture of my own. The timing was right for me to start this adventure now and she prompted me forward. I will always be very grateful for her advice.”-Bonnie

As a Pittsburgh photographer, I enjoy taking pictures of all the beautiful wedding cakes at the receptions. I love cake and the past two weeks have been absolutely amazing! My mom is launching her bakery, S’more Cake. We have spent the last two weeks baking cakes, decorating, and building her website. I have been documenting every step of the way through lifestyle and product photography. By far, my favorite cake that she has made so far is this Lemon Layer Cake. The frosting is so light and fluffy and the lemon curd filling is delicious! As a wedding photographer I see wedding cakes all the time. I love that her cakes are so elegant and made from the high quality ingredients. I can’t wait to try her next cake! She is going to make a toasted almond coconut cake! My mouth is already watering thinking about it!

“When life throws you lemons, make a lemon cake!!!! And what a cake this is! This cake is a four layer, lemon flavored cake with white chocolate mixed into the batter. It is frosted with a lemon buttercream with lemon zest and white chocolate. The filling is a lemon curd and lemon buttercream. When I was making the cake, the room became filled with the aroma of lemon and it was wonderful. My grand daughter Allie was running around, asking for “s’more cake, please”. It seems that she also enjoys the flavor of this sweetened fruit.”-Bonnie
